Grattis – du är först i kön! En utställning om Epa-design
About the business
In this exhibition, you’ll discover the EPA culture on Gotland through photography and the young people’s own stories. An EPA is more than just a vehicle driven by a 15–17-year-old. It represents a means of transport, a passion for engines, a sense of community, music, identity and freedom. At the same time, EPA culture provokes strong reactions. For some, it is a slow-moving vehicle on country roads and a bass sound that can be heard across the entire car park. For others, it is an integral part of their youth. EPA culture is a divisive issue. It can be perceived as disruptive or as creative and inclusive. In the autumn of 2025, Gotland Museum invited young people to a creative workshop where they were able to design their own graphics and decals for their A-tractors. Eight participants created personalised designs which were printed and fitted to their vehicles. The cars and their owners were then photographed by photographer Karl Melander. These photographs are now on display in the exhibition ‘Congratulations – you’re first in the queue!’. The exhibition also features an interactive element that gives visitors a sense of what it’s like to sit in an EPA. The exhibition runs from 14 March to 14 June.
