For 300 kr (200 kr if you’re under 25), you can watch 7 films this spring! *Mother, Couch* Three siblings meet up in a furniture shop in the middle of nowhere. Here, their mother, played by Ellen Burstyn, has barricaded herself on a sofa. David does his best to diplomatically try to resolve the situation, but the other siblings seem to take it all in their stride with frustrating nonchalance. And whilst their mother’s immovable position on the sofa brings Norén family conflicts to the surface, the furniture shop seems increasingly labyrinthine and David is chased, with a desperate look in his eyes, through a Kubrick-esque nightmare with no end in sight.FremontDonya is an emotionally detached former translator for the US Army in Afghanistan, but now leads a regimented life in Fremont, California. She works listlessly in a factory producing Chinese fortune cookies and is tormented by her escape from her Taliban-ruled homeland, where her family still lives. When Donya realises that life is slipping through her fingers, she decides to send out a message seeking love in one of the fortune biscuits. Sex Sometimes you simply have to follow your gut feeling. And sometimes you don’t. Two chimney sweeps surprise each other one day at lunch. One is troubled and visibly affected by a suggestive dream about David Bowie. The other is elated at having stepped out of his comfort zone and accepted an unexpected invitation. Will their lives ever be the same again? Club Zero A chilling social satire by Jessica Hausner (The Miracle of Lourdes, Little Joe) about cults, faith and self-deception. When the aloof Miss Novak (Mia Wasikowska) starts teaching at an elite British school, she quickly becomes popular. Her course in ‘Conscious Eating’ leads the pupils to believe that by eating less, they can save the world. But the course soon reveals a far darker side, and the class begins to resemble a cult. With Jessica Hausner’s distinctive style and eye for detail, Club Zero becomes a chilling critique of wellness culture, conformity and overconsumption. How far are we prepared to go for our convictions? The film contains scenes of behavioural control and eating disorders that may be disturbing to some viewers. Singing in the Rain – A Classic The film is set in 1927, when the talkie was making its breakthrough. The collaboration between stars Lina Lamont and Dan Lockwood seems to be going badly when it turns out that Lina’s voice is annoyingly shrill. But Dan’s girlfriend, who is unknown, has a beautiful voice. Can she save the day? The film has, in various contexts, been regarded as the best musical film ever made. *The Life of a Hummingbird* Korea 1994. During the summer, South Korea has been gripped by World Cup fever, whilst North Korea mourns its recently deceased dictator. Eunhee observes all this in passing as she drifts aimlessly through Seoul. She is an outsider everywhere: at school, her classmates are boring; at home, her parents argue and her brother beats her. Nothing moves her, and she has a tumour on one side of her jaw. Nothing moves her except Young-ji, a teacher who teaches Chinese characters, and in whose presence she dares to be herself.Gloria – The Miracle in Venice The women of classical music, forgotten by history, get their revenge in this exalted musical. The setting is a convent for musically gifted women in 19th-century Venice. At the centre of the story is Teresa, a mute and outcast maid with an almost magical ability to compose melodies.
