About the place

Sweden’s only museum with exhibitions dedicated to the Army, Air Force and Navy! Here you’ll find exhibitions showcasing the history of defence from ancient times to the present day. Armoured vehicles, artillery pieces and air defence systems. Fixed and mobile coastal artillery pieces, a military hospital, fighter aircraft (the Draken and the Viggen) and helicopters. The museum consists of two sections (Army and Air Force/Navy). The Army section is 300 metres south of Tingstäde Church, and the Air Force/Navy section is approximately 2 km south of Tingstäde.A few highlights from our exhibitions: Defence history from ancient times to the year 2000. A number of tanks and armoured vehicles that formed part of the military organisation from the Second World War onwards. Some are roadworthy. Artillery pieces from the 1860s onwards and anti-aircraft systems from the 1930s onwards. The Soviet aeroplane (AN2) that made an emergency landing outside Östergarn in 1987. All coastal artillery pieces that have been in service on Gotland since the late 19th century. Sea mines, both remotely triggered and direct-detonation. Combat aircraft (Draken and Viggen) and helicopters. Interiors from a naval field hospital, etc. A total of 5,000 square metres of exhibition space!
