Goda Gotland, Smakpanelen
About the business
The ‘Goda Gotland’ tasting panel is a resource and sounding board available to local food producers when they wish to develop, quality-assure and market their products. Among other things, the panel carries out tests that can be used to gain an insight into how consumers are likely to react to the product. For example, the panel can help answer questions about how the choice of ingredients and the product’s preparation affect consumers’ perceptions of its appearance, texture and taste.Another area of activity is to produce information that is useful for the marketing of locally produced food ingredients and food products. This may include a description of the product’s or raw ingredient’s flavour, uses, suitable cooking methods and cooking temperatures, etc. The panel consists of around fifteen trained individuals from a variety of backgrounds and of different ages. The initiative is led by Lars Magnus Lahne, a board member of Goda Gotland. To develop the Taste Panel’s activities, Tomas Lundgren and Luqaz Ottosson – both well-known and highly regarded culinary creators – have been brought on board. In his day job, Tomas Lundgren works at Wisbygymnasiet, training the next generation of young chefs. The multi-award-winning Luqaz Ottosson, for his part, runs Restaurant Rot, located in Norrlanda on eastern Gotland. The panel’s services are currently provided free of charge.Anyone seeking further information or wishing to seek the panel’s assistance should, in the first instance, contact one of the following people: Lars Magnus Lahne – secretary of the taste panel.
