Viking glamping at Stavgard!
Make your visit to Stavgard a unique experience. During our summer opening hours, you have the chance to hire part of our longhouse to live like a Viking for a night. Bandelundhuset consists of two rooms, one of which is furnished with a large bed and the other with two beds, each accommodating up to four people. The room also features tables and benches, as well as lanterns for a cosy evening. Outside the house, you can cook your evening meal over an open fire at our covered hearth. The hearth is fully equipped with a grill rack, pots, a frying pan and utensils. Then sit in the evening sun in the farmyard and eat from wooden platters and drink from ceramic mugs whilst listening to the birdsong and the rustling of the wind in the treetops.Take a walk through the woods down to the sea. As darkness falls, you can sit inside the house and play hnefatafel, read aloud from the Edda, or simply enjoy the tranquillity.You have access to Bandelundhuset from 16.00, but you can check in with our hosts between 12.00 and 16.30. Check-out is by 11.00 at the latest. Between 4.00 pm and 11.00 am, you’ll have the house to yourselves, but please note that volunteers may be staying in other buildings on the farm.-Duvets, pillows, sheets and towels.-A fully equipped Viking-era kitchen. -A cloak to put on if the evening turns chilly. Breakfast made with Gotland produce. -Admission to Stavgard for registered guests staying overnight. Price: 2,800 SEK per night, including breakfast. -Ingredients for the evening meal, as well as unique recipes developed by our food archaeologist, can be ordered in advance at a cost of 500 SEK.
