OUR LITTLE RUIN: AGITATOR, GIRL SCOUT and THE FLORA AND FAUNA OF VASA

AGITATOR Agitator made their debut in autumn 2023 with *Vem är du om du inte är min?* – and since then, the Swedish indie scene hasn’t quite been the same again. And we’ve barely had time to sit down and catch our breath before the Stockholm quintet have resurfaced with new material. In two years, Agitator have released three albums. The latest is called *Året av sex* and came out this spring. *Zero Magazine* called it “a dark, often subdued, dramatic and at times highly experimental entity that mostly rumbles along at a leisurely pace”. Felix Lindström writes lyrics that bear little resemblance to anyone else’s. And the band’s list of influences includes names such as 22-Pisterpirkko, Kingston, techno, Reeperbahn, The Cure and Freud, and more recently, increasingly, Reno “The Divorce Capital”, Nina Simone, Tricky and Sture Dahlström.We can sense that this is going to be a live experience out of the ordinary. Or come to think of it, if you saw Agitator play in Visby in November 2024, you know EXACTLY how good this could be.GIRL SCOUTS Girl Scouts’ debut album *Brink* was released this spring, but ever since 2022 they’ve been spoiling us with huge choruses, catchy lyrics and a drive that makes indie fans of all generations burst into song together. A string of singles has already taken the band far beyond the country’s borders with their pop fireworks: ‘Weirdo’, ‘Honey’, ‘Same Kids’ and ‘Crumbs’, to name but a few.At the forefront of the stage stands singer and guitarist Emma Jansson, one of Swedish pop’s most radiant frontwomen. Now she and her bandmates are coming to Visby to light up the ruins of St Nicolai. VASAS FLORA OCH FAUNA Every song bearing Mattias Björka’s signature is like a short story, or a keyhole to peer through. His band, Vasas Flora och Fauna, is often described as ‘quirky’, but this is merely a euphemism used by those who struggle to accept the everyday sincerity and unabashed vulnerability that characterise the band’s songs. Or perhaps they’ve simply been captivated by the Finland-Swedish dialect spoken by Björka and his fellow singer Tina Kärkinen. Since their debut album *Släkt med Lotta Svärd*, Vasas Flora och Fauna have been showcasing their Ostrobothnian roots to listeners. On their latest album, *Berg i dagen*, their gentle indie pop has taken on even more nuances, with traces of both synth-pop and guitar-driven rock.We are absolutely delighted to welcome this fantastic trio to Gotland! We’ll be in touch with the times as the event approaches. This evening is presented in collaboration with Amplified Stockholm and the Signatur Foundation. This event is made possible by the St Nicolai Grant, which Vår Lilla Planet was awarded in 2025. The grant is sponsored by Kultudralen in collaboration with PA-kompaniet.
