Theatre for Young Roma

About the show: Nine-year-old Mille has been through quite a lot in her life and believes there are more important things to worry about than going to school every day. Instead, ever since her dad disappeared, Mille has been building a fort out of cushions and blankets. Mille has promised him to ‘hold the fort’, but how does one do that? When we meet Mille, Mum has, as usual, gone out to buy Mille’s favourite fish fingers, but on this particular day she’s taking far too long. What if Mum doesn’t come back? What will happen to Mille then, if both Mum and Dad are gone? In the play *THE FORT*, written and directed by Nadine Holmberg, we follow Mille’s journey through fantasy and reality as they are torn between the safety of the fort and the frightening reality. It’s an emotional struggle, full of both humour and seriousness, as Mille – accompanied by live music – faces challenges of all kinds. When it comes to disaster preparedness, Mille is an expert and shares various lessons, dangers and pitfalls in her secret livestreams. But is it really possible to be prepared for everything? The play explores the limits of the imagination, survival and what happens when a crisis strikes.DurationApprox. 40 minsTarget audienceThe performance is aimed at children aged 7 and over.
