Summer music with the Andreas & Helena Duo

Andreas Kongshaug and Helena Wessman, a married couple, have recently started making music together and have found it both enriching and enjoyable. They play music they enjoy, resulting in a rather varied programme, as they are two people with strong wills and different tastes.Andreas trained as a violin teacher at the Stockholm Institute of Music Education and has specialised in the Japanese Suzuki method. At the same time, he has worked as a professional freelance violinist in the Mälardalen region and is delighted to now be part of Gotland’s music scene.Helena grew up in Othem in northern Gotland. She trained as a trombonist at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and worked professionally as a musician for ten years before putting her trombone away to retrain as a music administrator. In recent years, she has returned to music, focusing on the accordion, singing and the organ. The couple settled permanently on Gotland in November 2023, having lived in Västerås since the early 1990s. Andreas works at Kulturskolan Gotland and Helena at Gotlandsmusiken.
