*Protected Object* by Julia Hackman with Anton Cöster and Evelina Benedicks, 25–26 June in the military tent at Fiskarporten, Almedalen. This year, a green military field tent will be erected on the beach at Almedalen. Inside, we will be staging a theatre performance that explores Gotland’s past and present as a location of military strategic importance, as well as the fears and concerns surrounding the future security of Gotland and Sweden as a whole.In a temporary mobile surveillance station, two signals intelligence officers are hard at work, much as usual. Suddenly, one of them spots an anomaly on the screen. What on earth is it they’re seeing? Is it a threat or just a system error? And what should they do about it? Perhaps everything is about to change.The performance explores questions such as how we filter and interpret information, and how the stories we tell about ourselves and who we are not only affect us personally but can also have security implications.Performed on 25 June at 10.30, 12.45, 14:30 and 16:00; 26 June at 10:30, 12:45, 14:30 and 16:00.
