Russ celebration on Lojsta Heath

Meet-up for the hunt at 06.00 by the ‘Russpark’ sign for anyone who wishes to join. The hunt begins at 11.00. Coffee, sausages and refreshments on sale, as well as a chance to ride the Russ horses! The Russ hunt on Lojsta Heath is a real community celebration. As well as the chance to see the herd up close, Russ horses from all over Gotland will be coming to Lojsta Heath. During the day, the conformation of 1-, 2- and 3-year-olds and mares will be assessed, and older mares will be entered in the stud book or receive a higher value letter. The Lojsta mares will take part in the show ring as young horses. Things can get quite lively when the Lojsta Russ horses are put in halters and paraded in the ring. There is also a presentation of the herd’s members at the paddocks by Gerums Korsgata. When the day is over, all the paddocks are opened and the herd is released into the large autumn pasture.Free parking, free entry, disabled-friendly outdoor toilet.
