Mindfulness via Vipassana
Prerequisites: Everyone is welcome to take part. Beginners will receive an introduction at the first session. Course content: Mindfulness is about developing self-awareness and mental discipline to calm the mind and sharpen one’s perception. Study and discussion are included in every session, providing philosophical insight, a broader understanding and deepening the meditation experience. The evening begins with an hour of meditation, both walking and sitting (with instructions). During the second hour, we discuss a section from the book we are reading. We read literature on meditation and Buddhist philosophy and discuss personal perspectives and Buddhist concepts. We take our starting point from the original form of mindfulness – Buddhist vipassana meditation. The meditation itself, however, has no Buddhist connotations.
