Medieval Week is Sweden’s biggest historical festival! Every summer, the past is brought to life on Gotland for eight days. In 2020, Medieval Week won the Grand Tourism Prize for the second time. The festival runs for eight days from 2–9 August 2022⁶, from Sunday in week 31 to Sunday in week 32. Medieval Week AB is owned by a non-profit foundation, which was established as a research foundation focusing on public education. The founders are the Gotland Museum, the Gotland Adult Education Association, the Gotland Local History Association, the Gotland Tourist Association, the Medieval Guild and Region Gotland. When: Medeltidsveckan runs for eight days, from Sunday to Sunday, 2–9 August 2026. Where: Most activities take place in Visby, but also in the Gotland countryside. What: Medieval Week is a historical and cultural festival. Outdoors amongst ruins, on the streets and in parks. And indoors in museums, churches, conference halls and medieval taverns.
