A medieval Christmas with Medieval Week on Gotland

As the December darkness descends upon the ruins of St Nicolai, history comes to life. During Medieval Christmas, you can wander through an atmospheric market where warming fires are lit, music fills the vaults and the scents of Christmas mingle with the sound of laughter from young and old alike. Here, traditional crafts and period music come together in a unique setting where you can discover everything from hand-knitted mittens to fairy tales, enjoy concerts on winter evenings and sample food and drink that warms you right to the heart. A historic atmosphere by torchlight, and if the weather gods are kind to us, crunching snow beneath our feet. Medieval Christmas kicks off with an atmospheric torchlight procession starting at Österport on 4 December at 4.30 pm. We’ll then walk together through Visby’s alleyways to the ruins of St Nicolai. Medieval Christmas is an atmospheric experience for the whole family. A journey back in time, filled with a sense of community, magic and Christmas spirit. Come and spend 4–6 December with us in the Middle Ages! St Nicolai Ruins, Smedjegatan 19, 621 55 Visby. Find out more at medeltidajul.se
