Concert – Folk Music Threads – Ingrid Rodebjer, the duo Alma & Tatu
Welcome to the marquee in Anga for a concert in the folk tradition – with folk-inspired themes – featuring a couple of Gotland’s young, expressive musicians and a guest artist from Finland. Gotlandic and original compositions by Ingrid Rodebjer, music ranging from nature-inspired Nordic poetry to the petrichor-scented hum of the city with the duo Alma Tatu. Ingrid Rodebjer is a folk musician and songwriter who grew up on Gotland. Ingrid studied Swedish folk music at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, and her artistic work is deeply rooted in the traditional heritage of folk music and shaped by contemporary influences, with the violin and her voice at the centre. This summer, she will be performing Gotlandic folk music alongside traditional and original songs. Alma Weiser is a singer and songwriter who grew up on Gotland and is now based in Helsinki. She graduated from the University of Performing Arts in Gothenburg in the spring of 2025, where she completed a bachelor’s degree in world music. Alma has her roots in Swedish folk music, but her compositions draw on influences from contemporary traditional music, jazz, pop, free improvisation and experimental music. In her soundscapes, the sensory is ever-present and there is a strong connection to colour, form and textiles. Her music feels close to both the hand and the heart, like a touch.Tatu Tikka is a percussionist and multi-instrumentalist based in Helsinki, where he is studying Global Music at the Sibelius Academy. Tatu plays in several bands, including ‘Katumankeli’, who have just released an album, and produces his own music under the stage name ‘Orang Pendek’. His music is like paintings. It’s about landscapes, details, a mood. The songs rarely follow conventional ‘song structures’, yet they remain ‘songs’ nonetheless. Contemporary folk music from a contemporary, glass-clad Helsinki, right here, right now. Alma Tatu blends traditional folk music with modern sound design. They paint folk songs and original compositions into new landscapes. Alma Weiser (SE), vocals, accordion. Tatu Tikka (FI), percussion, live electronics. The concert is organised by Vibrationsverket/KF Balans i Fokus with support from the Ragnar and Lydia Nilsson Foundation
