Prerequisites: The course is suitable for everyone, from complete beginners to those with some experience of pottery. No prior knowledge is required. Objectives: The aim of the course is for you to learn basic pottery techniques and be able to create your own clay pieces, both functional and artistic.Content: We’ll work with a range of techniques to give you a broad understanding: Hand-building: Creating shapes by hand using simple movements. Slab building: Shaping and building with thin sheets of clay.Wheel-throwing: Try your hand at creating on the potter’s wheel.Sculpting: Shape clay into more complex objects.Glazing and decorative techniques to add colour and personality to your creations.Course structureThe course combines practical exercises and guidance. You’ll receive individual help and guidance from the course leader. Materials and tools are provided on site, and the firing of your finished pieces is included. Course materials: The cost of clay and glaze is additional and payable on site.
