Ceramics: Firing blackware during Medieval Week – 2 days

2 days Prerequisites No prior knowledge is required. The course is suitable for both beginners and those with previous experience of pottery who wish to learn the blackware firing technique.Aims: The aim of the course is for you to be able to create your own ceramic pieces and understand the process behind black-glaze firing, from design to the finished result. Content: Basic ceramic techniques and working with small-scale pieces such as jewellery, sculptures, etc. Please note: we do not make larger pieces. Designing and decorating your own pieces. An introduction to black-body firing and its history. Preparation and firing in a kiln specifically designed for black-body firing. Tips on finishing and caring for your finished pieces. Course structure: The course is practice-oriented and takes place in a creative and inspiring environment. The course is led by an experienced ceramist who will guide you through every stage. You will work at your own pace and have the opportunity to receive personalised guidance. All materials and tools are included in the course fee.
