In the summer of 1994, Janne Schaffer shared the stage with Björn J:son Lindh on a warm evening in a garden setting, with evening swallows providing the backdrop. There were 800 people in the audience, and the performance has been described by many as magical and deeply appreciated. Now Schaffer is returning to Katthammarsvik, this time to Pensionat Borgvik, for a new evening of music where history and the present meet in a carefully crafted live format.Five decades of Swedish music history in one evening With over 56 years as a studio musician, soloist and songwriter, Janne Schaffer is one of Sweden’s most influential musicians. ‘My Music Story’ is a concert lasting approximately 2–2.5 hours, where iconic songs and personal stories come together in a dynamic, cohesive format.The audience is taken on a journey from the 1960s pop scene, via collaborations with ABBA and Ted Gärdestad, to projects with Björn J:son Lindh and the Electric Banana Band. Schaffer featured on 69 of Gärdestad’s recordings and 46 ABBA songs, including “Waterloo”. Through the TV programme *Stjärnorna på slottet*, he also reached an audience of nearly two million viewers.Special tribute: Ted Gärdestad turns 70. The evening will also feature a special tribute to Ted Gärdestad, who would have turned 70 – a musical and personal tribute from one of his closest collaborators.”‘My Music Story’ continues this year too; I’ll be joined by Jonas Gideon on keyboards and vocals. Ted Gärdestad would have turned 70 this year, so there’ll be a bit more focus on him, whilst I also reflect on the musical era that surrounded me from the time of his breakthrough right up to the present day – with songs like ‘Brusa högre lilla å’, ‘Norrland’, ABBA’s ‘Eagle’ and many more, plus stories, of course. I’ll also be performing some of the new music I’ve written for the new Swedish feature film *Biodlaren* (premiering 17 April). See you there!
