Photo 1: Beginners’ Course This course is aimed at those who feel unsure about all the possibilities a camera has to offer. Perhaps you’ve got a new camera? Or maybe it’s been a long time since you last held a camera and you’ve forgotten a few things? Content: The course will primarily focus on the technical aspects and how to make use of the various features your camera offers, but will also cover basic information on the philosophy behind photography. • Camera structure• What do all the buttons do and how do I use them?• Exposure• Focus• Basic concepts in photography• The exposure triangle• Creative use of different camera settingsThe course is ‘hands-on’, using participants’ own cameras. There will be opportunities during the course to show some of your photos and start discussing them. If participants are interested, we can organise a ‘photo outing’ to put the theory into practice.Target audience: The course is suitable for both adults and young people. Prerequisites: The course is taught at beginner level. No prior knowledge of photography is required. Equipment: Please bring your own camera (a digital SLR camera with adjustable aperture and shutter speed).Course leader: Folkuniversitetet’s course leader has extensive experience in photography and teaching. He is a qualified communications specialist, photographer, Director of Photography and filmmaker, and has completed a tutor training programme at Umeå University.Good to know: The course takes place at our premises at Merkuriusgatan 1. Further details on what you need to bring will be provided in the invitation. There is no class on Maundy Thursday.
