Ecstatic Ensemble with Malena Ernman – Visby Cathedral
Concert at Visby Cathedral (St Mary’s) on Saturday 19 September at 7.00 pm. “The Ecstatic Ensemble made a huge impression, with dazzling musical skill and light-hearted banter between pieces.” Sydsvenska Dagbladet. “The sextet moves effortlessly and freely through all manner of genres, from Gregorian chant through Mozart’s operatic world to film music from *The Lord of the Rings*.” *Östgöta Correspondenten*. “The Ecstatic Ensemble’s combination of technical brilliance, musicality and warmth left the audience breathless at times. No one wanted to miss a single note or nuance.” Bo Borg. The star-studded vocal group Ecstatic Ensemble was formed on the initiative of Malena Ernman during the pandemic and has, among other things, recorded the concert film “Ecstatic Ensemble Sings Early Music” at the Stockholm Concert Hall. The film was streamed on Konserthuset Play and was subsequently acquired by SVT, where it was available to watch throughout 2023.In the concert programme *The Lost Music of Women – from Antiquity to #MeToo*, the Ecstatic Ensemble takes you on a journey from a staggering 1400 BC right up to the present day, featuring music by women who were not allowed to make their mark. Hear vocal music by the Viking skald Jorunn, Teodora Ginés, Barbara Strozzi and many more undeservedly forgotten women. Music from castles, monasteries and mountain pastures, in flight from war, revolution and slavery. All performed a cappella. All the singers in the group have a background in professional choirs such as the Radio Choir, the Eric Ericson Chamber Choir and the Mogens Dahl Chamber Choir. They are experts in fields as diverse as early music, Baroque, opera, jazz and musicals. In the Ecstatic Ensemble, they are united by a love of choral singing.Jeanette Köhn – soprano Sofia Niklasson – soprano Malena Ernman – alto Leif Aruhn-Solén – tenor David Risberg – baritone Gustav Nordlander – bass TICKET PRICES Adults: 320 kronor Children and young people: Free when accompanied by an adult and with their own ticket!
