Beowulf – a Gotlander from Stavgard and Burs!

Listen to the tale of Beowulf and meet the author Hans Wanneby, who will take you on a journey to Gotland in the 6th century, where he offers a physical explanation of the saga. Together with Rikard Evertsson, Hans has spent six years researching Beowulf, walking the fields around Stavgard and searching for and finding traces of the past. In the Gotland runestones and the physical landscape, they have found Beowulf. Welcome to an exciting morning. We’ll gather in the longhouse to listen to the story of Beowulf, after which we’ll visit Beowulf’s home, the largest longhouse ruin in Sweden. In addition to the story, Hans Wanneby will present various ideas and theories centred on the Beowulf poem.Please note: wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes, as we’ll be walking in the countryside and crossing stone circles; bring water with you.
